History

  • 1946-1947

Medical education in Malang began with the establishment of a Medical/Dental College which utilized the facilities of the Division VII Military Hospital (now RSAD Soepraoen). This initiative produced Indonesia's first graduates in dentistry from a domestic university. However, this activity stopped when the Dutch occupied Malang.

  • 1960 -1964

In 1960-1962, efforts to reopen the Medical School in Malang began. With the support of community leaders and IDI, the Malang Medical College (PTKM) was opened on September 14 1963 by the Minister of Health, Major General Dr. Satrio and accepted 105 students. On March 18 1964, PTKM changed to Malang Medical College (STKM) under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education.

  • 1974-1976

Through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 001/0/1974, STKM changed to a state institution to coincide with Brawijaya University's XI Anniversary. STKM officially merged with Brawijaya University and became the Faculty of Medicine (FK UB). As a state faculty, FK UB manages the entire educational process with 53 permanent lecturers and 36 non-permanent lecturers for 765 students and 426 young doctors. FK UB uses laboratories from the Faculty of Agriculture and Engineering, while the anatomy laboratory is at RST Soepraoen.

  • 2006-2014

FK UB opens international classes in accordance with the Chancellor's Decree No. 128/SK/2006. The Medical Study Program also received A accreditation based on letter No. 486/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/XII/2014.
